Eastern Illinois Transfer To Join OSU

Oklahoma State appears to have finally gotten the help it was looking for in another big man for the 2015-16 season. Chris Olivier, a recent graduate from Eastern Illinois, will play next season for head coach Travis Ford’s Cowboys, according to several sources.

The 6-8, 245-pound Olivier is a recent graduate from Eastern Illinois, and will have one year of eligibility at OSU.

Olivier, a 6-8, 245-pound forward, averaged 13 points and 5.3 rebounds in 27 games last season at Eastern Illinois (18-15). He shot 54.2 percent from the field and 55.9 percent from the free-throw line. He missed six games in the middle of the season because of mononucleosis, but returned to play in the final eight games.

He had 25 points, seven rebounds and a career-high six blocks in a 75-73 overtime loss to Tennessee-Martin on Feb. 19. Olivier was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 5 after back-to-back outstanding performances in wins over Tennessee Tech (22 points, 6 rebounds) and Jacksonville State (20 points, 10 rebounds.

He began his career at Northern Iowa, but left the team midway through the 2012-13 season as a redshirt freshman. Olivier played the last two years at Eastern Illinois, averaging 11.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 20 games as a junior during the 2013-14 season.

He provides immediate front court help for the Cowboys who currently have just three players taller than Olivier: 7-footer Anthony Allen, 6-9 Mitchell Solomon and 6-9 junior college transfer Igor Ibaka.
