Harper Excited To Be A Cowboy

Devin Harper is a new name to most of us that keep an eye on Oklahoma State recruiting and Tennessee has not be a recruiting hotbed for the Cowboys. Devin's coach at Karns High School is really high on his athletic and multi-positional prospect. So why did the 6-1, 210-pound Harper pick Oklahoma State after his trip to Stillwater to participate in the three-day camp over a week ago?

"It was the environment, [and] the staff," Harper said. "The staff was really nice and it felt like family. Coach (Eric) Henderson and Coach (Glenn) Spencer spent time with me. They said I would play kind of a nickel back or hybrid safety and linebacker."

"Star" is that hybrid position. His coach thinks he may get big enough to play the middle or weak-side linebacker. He is also a basketball standout, but head coach Mike Gundy will be glad to hear or was glad to hear Harper talk about his favorite sport. "Football, football is my favorite sport," he said.

As for academics, Harper is squared away and a good student at Karns High School.

"I want to study sports medicine and physical therapy," Harper said of his collegiate major and degree plan.

As we mentioned in his commitment story, Harper is not as highly rated but it appears Oklahoma State did its homework and may have found a true sleeper in this Tennessean.
