Cowboy Basketball Picks Up Late Commit

Davon Dillard, a 6-5, 200-pound wing with great athleticism who originally committed to California, will be joining the Oklahoma State basketball program for the 2015-16 season. Dillard told GoPokes.com on Wednesday night that he would be enrolling at OSU in the coming weeks.

“Just let the fans know that I’m coming to Oklahoma State to win a championship,” said Dillard, who is from Gary, Indiana but played this past season at Our Savior New American School in Centereach, New York.

Dillard gave a verbal commitment in March to Cal coach Cuonzo Martin but did not sign with the Bears during the early signing period in April. He did not wish to discuss on Wednesday night why he didn’t sign with Cal after committing to them in the spring.

He commits to the Cowboys after making a visit to the Oklahoma State campus on Monday and Tuesday with his mother.

“I just really like their playing style,” he said. “I’ll fit in perfectly at Oklahoma State. I have a great bond with the coaches. It just felt like home.”

Dillard reportedly has offers from Georgia Tech, Indiana, Pitt, Providence and Purdue before originally committing to California. He had been considering Oklahoma State and Central Florida in recent months.

“I’m glad to finally find a home to play college basketball,” he said. “It’s a great relief for me and my mom.”
