Big 12 20th Anniversary Salute: All-OSU Team

I have to admit that my 20th anniversary salute to the Big 12 project was a tough chore. I tried to pay homage to some certain rules that I like to abide by and one is that Heisman Trophy and national award winners rule. Also, when it comes to quarterbacks then I often will take quarterbacks that win championships over others.

I broke (or compromised) that rule with OU when I named both Heisman winners in Jason White and Sam Bradford and left off Josh Heupel, who led the Sooners to a national championship in 2000. I had to seriously weigh and consider quarterback Zac Robinson with the Cowboys and his overall offensive production while including Brandon Weeden, as both were deserving.

Saturday night we had our son and daughter-in-law and some of their friends and our friends over. Schools represented included Oklahoma State, OU, Kansas, and Kansas State. There were two former sports information student assistants and one that worked in the sports information office post graduation. The discussion raged, and while most of my decisions were agreed with or validated, I have to admit some were pointed out to be wrong or at least questionable.

It's fun to discuss and to consider. I have no problem with Oklahoma State fans, and a couple have, questioning my decisions. Both, by the way, questioned me leaving off Dez Bryant and on ability alone they are absolutely correct, but I had to consider production overall and Dez's actual playing time was too fleeting to match up with either Rashaun Woods or Justin Blackmon.

Now, I will expand my Oklahoma State list and here is a 20th Anniversary All-Oklahoma State Team from the Big 12 era.
