McCollum Picks Up Offer From Cowboys

Twitter is the way to go in learning what is going on with major college football recruits. Tuesday night there was more news through Twitter as Klein Oak High School offensive tackle Ryan McCollum tweeted that he had his ninth official scholarship offer and it was a big one for him.

"Blessed to have received my 9th offer from Oklahoma State Cowboys!!! #GoPokes," McCollum wrote as a Twitter message.

Today the 6-6, 275-pound McCollum expanded on that.

"I was excited because Oklahoma State was one of my top schools and they hadn't offered yet," he said by phone. "I was pushing to get that offer and when I got it I was excited, and my whole family was excited about it."

McCollum on video shows a long frame and a playing style that allows him to keep contact with blocking targets. He has good feet and is able to pass block really well but his best skill is his ability to go mobile and seemingly almost always get his target.

He pulls often in the Klein Oak offense and show the ability to gather himself, sink his hips, and hit his target under control, with leverage, and with power.

McCollum also has offers from TCU, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Air Force, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Nevada, and Tulsa. He said he is undecided on a major but it will likely be something associated with business.

"I do plan on making my decision and a commitment before practice starts on August 10," McCollum added.
