Love, a transfer from East Meadow High School on Long Island, New York, was sensational. Using some of the blocks from standout offensive lineman T.J. Fiailoa, Love connected on 13-of-16 passing for 193 yards and he rushed for 92 yards.
"He threw some passes that you don't see every high school quarterback complete," good friend to gopokes.com and Clinton play-by-play radio announcer Dennis Smith told us. "He has the receivers to do it and he has a lot of confidence in his ability. He is a really good looking quarterback."
Love is 6-4, 190 pounds and at East Meadow played in a flexbone offense where last season he completed just 19-of-33 passes for 432 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He ran fro 563 yards on 88 carries for a 6.4 yards per carry average and 9 touchdowns.
Love can run in the 4,6 range and has a 4.28 in the three-cone shuttle. He lso has a 27-inch vertical. His new head coach in Mac boss Brett Manning was complimentary of Love.
"I thought he did a good job," Manning told the Lawton Constitution. "He's not perfect and he's still learning and still getting better but we're pretty happy with him. He makes the big plays with his feet, which is what we want him to do. He had a good game."
Love is raw currently as a passer but with good arm strength and now getting an education in throwing the football, those big plays should soon be more balanced between run and pass.
