How The Cowboys Could Finish The Class

Oklahoma State only has a few scholarships remaining in the 2016 signing class. Robert Allen projects how OSU's recruiting class will finish and who are the top targets.

One of our subscribers asked last week on the Premium Board for me to come through with a prediction on how Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy and Co. will finish out the 2016 recruiting class. It's a very reasonable request. We used to predict the finish to the recruiting class on a weekly basis. Then the last couple of years the recruiting class has been mostly done coming out of the summer and heading into the fall. I would say at least about 60 to 70 percent done.

It was close to that this summer with the high points of Elite 11 finalist and recent 500-yard passer in a single game Nick Starkel committed. The Cowboys had stellar skill players in-state Tulsa Booker T. Washington running back Justice Hill committed from the very beginning and adding Jenks wide receiver Dillon Stoner was huge. With the recent addition of Hutchinson Community College and former East Carolina offensive lineman Larry Williams, the Cowboys now have four of the five offensive linemen they are going to take.

2016 Commitments
Offense                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Nick Starkel, QB, 6-4 1/2, 188, Argyle (Liberty Christian), Texas
Justice Hill, RB, 5-10, 185, Tulsa (Washington), Okla.
La'Darren Brown, RB, 5-10, 180, Desoto, Texas
Dillon Stoner, WR, 6-0, 180, Jenks, Okla.
Teven Jenkins, OT, 6-6, 295, Topeka, Kan.
Dylan Galloway, OL, 6-5, 280, Coppell, Texas
Ryan McCollum, OL, 6-5, 265, Houston (Klein Oak), Texas
Larry Williams, OL, 6-5, 308, Wilmington (Laney), N.C./East Carolina Univ./Hutchinson C.C., Kan.

On defense, Glenn Spencer and his staff wanted to get corners to replace Kevin Peterson and Michael Hunter and they got them ... four of them.  The linebacker tandem of Devin Harper and Amen Ogbongbemiga is unsung and under-rated. I think Ogbongbemiga is a standout and it doesn't hurt that in Canada you play school football in the fall and club football in the spring, two football seasons.

Defense
Tramal Ivy, DE, 6-4, 245, Butler County C.C., Kan./Muskogee, Okla.
Jonathan Marshall, DE, 6-3, 250, Shepherd, Texas
Devin Harper, LB/Ath., 6-1, 210, Knoxville (Karns), Tenn.
Amen Ogbongbemiga, LB, 6-1, 205, Calgary (Hilltoppers Midget football/NotreDame), Alberta, Canada
A.J. Green, CB, 6-1, 170, Desoto, Texas
Madre Harper, CB, 6-3, 170, Arlington (Lamar), Texas
Rodarius Williams, CB, 6-0, 171, Shreveport (Calvary Baptist), La.
Malik Kearse, CB, 6-1, 175, Fort Scott C.C., Kan./Opa-Locka (Monsignor Pace), Fla.

To finish, it appears the Cowboys are looking for two or three skill players added on offense and one offensive lineman. They have recently added offers to running back Ja'Ron Wilson of Euless Trinity, and check out these numbers as he heads into the playoffs and a first-round game with South Grand Prairie with 175 carries for 1,735 yards, a 9.9 yards per carry average, and 19 touchdowns. He rushed for 243 yards and four touchdowns vs. Galena Park North Shore, he carried 31 times for 339 yards and three touchdowns vs. Southlake Carroll, and he torched Coppell and OSU OL commit Dylan Galloway for 344 yards and five touchdowns.

Southlake Carroll wide receiver and Starkel's buddy Zach Farrar got an offer from the Pokes last weekend and he is really interested according to Scout's Greg Powers. Farrar has 38 catches for 760 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Add in former OSU commit Tyrell Alexander of Lancaster, who has been at the last two home games and I think you can bank on two of those three to be in the class when it finishes on signing day on Feb. 3, 2016.

There will also be one more offensive lineman and Isaiahh Isaiahh Loudermilk would be the top choice, unless Tramonda Moore of John Marshall can get qualified or show signs that could happen. Either way Moore is going to be a big-time player for somebody after he finishes junior college.

Finishing Projections
Offense
Ja'Ron Wilson, RB, 5-10, 185, Euless (Trinity), Texas
Tyrell Alexander, Ath., 6-1 1/2, 170, Lancaster, Texas
Zach Farrar, WR, 6-3, 200, Southlake (Carroll), Texas
Isaiahh Loudermilk, OL/DL, 6-7, 270, Howard (West Elk), Kan.
Tramonda Moore, OL/DL, 6-4 1/2, 350, Oklahoma City (John Marshall), Okla.
Michael Wilson, OL, 6-8, 300, Round Rock, Texas

On defense, the Cowboys are also looking for a finishing trio that includes a defensive tackle and defensive end, two defensive ends or two defensive tackles. I'm going to guess they end up with one of each, and Blinn J.C. and Southwest J.C. Football Conference 1st Team All-Conference end Tralund Webber is a good one. He is committed to Minnesota but since the Jerry Kill resignation half the schools in Division I have seemed to offer including Oklahoma State. Webber finished this season with 35 tackles, 25 unassisted, six sacks, nine tckles for loss, 2 fumbles caused, a fumble recovered and an interception.

The other mostly definite player to be added in my mind would be Calvin Bundage as I really do think he is favoring Oklahoma State. He can see himself making plays in that defense like Jordan Burton and Jordan Sterns.

Defense
Ross Blacklock, DT, 6-3, 326, Fort Bend (Elkins), Texas
Tralund Webber, DE, 6-4, 245, Blinn J.C./Cameron (Yoe), Texas
Levi Onwuzurike, DE, 6-3, 230, Allen, Texas
Connor Murphy, DE, 6-7, 250, Phoenix (Brophy Prep), Ariz.
Maxs Tupai, DE, 6-2, 255, Salt Lake City (Murray), Utah (Murray), Utah
Calvin Bundage, Saf./Star LB, 6-3, 200, Edmond (Santa Fe), Okla.

There you go. Hold on to all the commits and then add three from the offensive list and add three from the defensive list and then send out the letters of intent.
