California standout Devon Modster is the latest quarterback to pick up an offer from Oklahoma State

Devon Modster, who has been committed to Arizona since the spring, is the latest quarterback to pick up an offer from the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Still shopping for a quarterback on Christmas Eve, the Oklahoma State Cowboys added to the recent offer list in the wake of the de-commitment of longtime pledge Nick Starkel. Earlier in the week the Cowboys offered and set up an official visit with impressive dual threat Louisiana standout Keondre Wudtee and now they have offered Arizona commit Devon Modster of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.

The 6-1, 210-pound dual threat quarterback has started for three seasons and has been a commitment to Arizona since the spring. But he is now considered a soft commitment and he was on Twitter in publicizing his latest offer: "Just got offered by Oklahoma State."

Modster was a starter for three seasons and three straight 9-3 records and 3-1 marks in the league. He has earned multiple CIF 1st-Team All-South Coast League honors. This past season he completed 68 percent of his passes for a career high 3,523 yards and 26 touchdown connections. He also ran for 427 yards and 14 more scores.

His junior season, he completed 191-of-344 passes for 2,602 yards with 24 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. On the ground he ran 133 times for 680 yards with 12 touchdowns. He also plays basketball.

Watching his tape, he is excellent on throwing the long ball whether it is zipping line drive throws down the middle on the post or putting some air under the vertical down the sideline for his receiver to run under. He is also perfect on his touch with the fade routes.

He has good pocket presence and throws other passes, both intermediate and short, well, but sometimes is behind the receiver on the shorter throws. You have to love that when he escapes the rush, and he does that well, that he keeps his eyes downfield looking for that receiver to pop open. He also throws well on the run.

Besides Arizona and Oklahoma State, his offers include Arizona State, Boise, Cal, Colorado State, Kansas, San Diego State, UCLA, UNLV, Utah, and Washington State.

That last offer says a lot to me as Mike Leach is careful on who he offers. A lot of times a Leach offer signals an unsung but talented quarterback prospect.
