Recruiting: How To Finish Out The Class

What are the primary needs as Oklahoma State looks to close out the 2016 recruiting class?

1. Must get a difference maker at running back.
Yesterday, the Cowboys saw candidate Devwah Whaley out of Beaumont Central in Texas give his pledge to Arkansas. The Cowboys have a strong candidate in Tulsa Washington back Justice Hill, who carried 198 times for 1,948 yards and 32 touchdowns this season against Class 6A competition. But they need another candidate because there is no margin for error. La'Darren Brown out of DeSoto, Texas has speed but doesn't appear to be stout enough to jump in and carry the ball 20-plus times and stick it to a defense. Other candidates down the stretch include D'Vaughn Pennamon out of Manvel, Texas. He may be exactly what the offensive coordinator might order but he has a soft pledge to Sugar Bowl opponent Ole Miss although he has to see the Cowboys need him more. There is Katy's Kyle Porter, Darius Anderson out of Richmond, Damarea Crockett from Arkansas, and Trevor Speights from McAllen, Texas (a soft commit to Arizona). There is a real chance for a young back to come in and play for a Big 12 contender. So who wants the job?

2. Must get a big play quarterback commitment.
Personally, I love Keondre Wudtee out of Bossier City. La., as he is 6-4, 190 pounds and can run and has a big arm that with work is only going to be more dominant. Mike Yurcich knows how to pick them. He picked out Mason Rudolph, he picked out John Kolar, he picked out Nick Starkel and after he ditched, Yurcich quickly came back with Wudtee and Californian Devin Modster. I'd like to see Wudtee in the fold and he visits right out of the end of the dead period on Jan. 14.
3. Finish the offensive line.
It looks like a good group and Larry Williams looks like an instant plug-in to the depth chart, maybe as a starter. I think he will be a starter for the Cowboys. That leaves one spot left and it looks like it could be junior college behemoth Shane Richards out of Canada with a stop over at New Mexico Military Institute. Richards has to wait until the summer but he should be happy to get out of NMMI.

4. There is room for another defensive lineman.
I really like Isaiahh Loudermilk out of Kansas, but that kid has had a lot of time to lock into this class. He was thought of as an OL but now looked at as a DL. Marcel Southall of Duncanville, Texas is a defensive tackle visiting Jan. 14 and could jump the spot. Hey, it's not to late to throw out any late feelers and see if some "big dog" would like to trade places and be the next Ogbah.

5. When will Calvin Bundage jump on board?
I've felt like this is coming for a long time. Calvin Bundage will visit coming up. He had 90 tackles this season but today missed out on the first team of The Oklahoman All-State team. Cowboys have a perfect position for him with the star linebacker. How long does he wait and does he end up in Stillwater as many have thought he would?
