Mike Gundy proud of what Emmanuel Ogbah accomplished at OSU

Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy is proud of what Emmanuel Ogbah accomplished at Oklahoma State and is excited to see what the All-America defensive end is able to do in the NFL.

We had the opportunity to speak with Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy this morning on Triple Play Sports Radio. Tomorrow, Gundy will meet with the beat writers and put a postscript on the season and look ahead to the finish of recruiting, offseason workouts, and into spring football.

However, today before Gundy was on, Cowboys All-American defensive end Emanuel Ogbah finally made his long anticipated announcement that he was leaving Oklahoma State early and making himself eligible for the NFL Draft. Gundy took advantage of the occasion to praise Ogbah and the program that has put the former three-star recruit in elite company in the first round of the NFL Draft.

"A guy like Ogbah, we wish him the best," Gundy said. "He's been a quality person and a great player for us here. We expect him to see many great years in the NFL, but that is what happens and you move forward with your young people."

On the field, Ogbah finished his career with some extensive numbers finishing this season with 65 tackles, 45 unassisted, 17.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three fumbles forced and two fumbles recovered. In his career the 6-4, 275-pound Ogbah, who projects as a rush end in either four-man front or a wide tackle in a three-man front, had 133 tackles, 97 unassisted, 40 tackles for loss, and 28 sacks. He will also get his degree this May and take that to the NFL as well.

"We're developing young men and graduating our players and you have a young man like Emmanuel Ogbah that is graduating in May and is coming out early and is going to go to the NFL," Gundy said. "We are changing young people's lives that represent Oklahoma State in a first-class manner."

Gundy said it is players like Ogbah that after 25 years in the coaching business continues to give him the most satisfaction.
