Marshall Says Official Visit Was Good

Jonathan Marshall, who stands 6-3 tall and says he is now 278 pounds, visits with Robert Allen about this weekend's official visit to Oklahoma State.

My research this week shows that Shepherd, Texas defensive lineman Jonathan Marshall was honored for the second season in a row as an All-State performer in Texas. He also was his district's Defensive Most Valuable Player. All pretty good stuff but he was listed everywhere as a defensive tackle.

"Yes sir, I'm 6-3 and right now I'm weighing 278 pounds," Marshall said on his way home from Stillwater on Sunday afternoon with his family from his official visit this weekend at Oklahoma State. "Defensive end is what they are talking to me about playing."

Wow! Marshall is 6-3, 278 pounds and has been dominating inside but the Oklahoma State staff believes he is athletic enough to play in the Big 12 at defensive end. That is SEC-style defensive line makeup. I know, it's not appreciated in Big 12 country to make those kind of comparisons that play up the other league but they did just win another national championship with Alabama.

Marshall, who switched his commitment from TCU to Oklahoma State late in the summer, said he enjoyed his visit.

"It went good, really liked it," he said. "Eric Davis was my player host. I liked meeting the other players in the class and the older players and coaches. I loved the facilities."

Marshall also confirmed some information for our profile we are building for signing day release. He is at 385 pounds on his bench press max and his squat max is 500 pounds.
