Shane Richards Is Still An OSU Commit

Offensive lineman Shane Richards from New Mexico Military Junior College is still planning to sign with Oklahoma State, but he'll be visiting Illinois and Louisville later this week.

After taking one visit last weekend and leaving tomorrow for back-to-back visits it surprises even me that we are still calling New Mexico Military J.C. and Calgary (Crescent Heights), Alberta, Canada offensive lineman Shane Richards a commitment to Oklahoma State, but we are.

Richards said he committed to Oklahoma State on his Jan. 15 visit weekend, but he had some more trips he wanted to take and that seems to be what the 6-7, 320 pounder is doing. He is a big man and one that passed the eye test, according to witnesses on the Jan. 15 official visit weekend.

"Buffalo wasn't too bad," Richards said of his visit, which took place on a terrible weekend for weather on the East Coast. Of course, Richards is from Canada, so you don't expect a little cold and snow to discourage him.

"I got to spend a lot of time with the coaching staff and the players. We did see the facilities. It was not as good as Oklahoma State," he said.

That is what he is expecting this weekend as he will take off tomorrow. "I'm leaving tomorrow to go to Illinois for a visit on Wednesday and Thursday and then I will go to Louisville for the weekend," he added as he squeezes in some more dining and hotel accommodations.

And if nothing changes your mind on your trip? "I will sign with Oklahoma State. That is what I have been thinking since I visited."

Richards said like linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga that is scheduled to play in the International Bowl football game in Arlington, Texas on Sunday. He played Hilltoppers club football in the spring while growing up in Canada and knew the coaching staff well because the coaches at the Hilltoppers Club eventually became the coaches for Ogbongbemiga at Notre Dame Academy.
