Vaughn Is A Major Commit For Cowboys

Brendan Vaughn, who verbally committed to Oklahoma State last month, was one of the top linebackers at Nike's The Opening Regional this past weekend.

I had seen Brendan Vaughn on video and was impressed with his play at Forney (Texas) High School. He showed speed, good instincts, and was physical, and showed he really liked to hit and make tackles.

After seeing him in person at Nike's The Opening Regional this past weekend, I'm blown away. This kid is really a legit player in looks as he is 6-1 and maybe a little taller and is a very well put together 213 pounds. You watch him do drills with all the other linebackers – and this was an exceptional linebacker class at Coppell High School last Sunday – and he shows up better than the majority. He is very athletic.

Vaughn was one of the final linebackers chosen to finish the day in the showcase 7-on-7 period to close it out. Afterwards, when three linebackers drew invites to The Opening it was mentioned that the coaches felt it was as good a group of linebackers as they had seen.

"I have never seen this many talented high school players and especially linebackers at one camp,"said former NFL star and NFL Network analyst Willie McGinest. "I've been to a lot of these and haven't seen this kind of talent in one day at one place."

Vaughn was a part of that and he takes coaching well and then also comes off very well spoken and impressive. He credits his parents for that and for his success in the classroom, which he also intends to continue at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys can be very happy with this early pledge as he is the kind of person you want coming into your program, on and off the field.
