Cowboys Pick Up Pledge From Brendon Evers

Oklahoma State picked up its fourth commitment in the 2017 recruiting class when defensive tackle Brendon Evers of Bixby, Okla., sent a tweet that he was committing to the Cowboys.

The Oklahoma State coaching staff will be back in the office on Monday following spring break and they will have something to celebrate as another home grown prospect has committed to the Cowboys. Bixby defensive tackle Brendon Evers became the fourth commitment in the OSU class on Sunday as he alerted the Twitter-sphere that he is an OSU Cowboy.

Evers had visited one of the Cowboys spring practices with his parents before the spring break. He had said he wanted to look at Kansas and Kansas State before deciding. He had multiple offers and was picking up recruiting interest from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech, in addition to the Kansas schools.

Evers had 52 tackles last season and an impressive 23.5 tackles for loss with four sacks among those. He is a very disruptive force inside and at 6-2 and currently weighing 291 pounds he would seem stout enough to keep that going in college. Besides playing football he is also a power lifter.

On his Twitter account where he announced his commitment, Evers said, "Thank you to everyone who got me here! #stillysquad17."

He also had a longer message that read: "To begin I just want to thank GOD and the gift that he has given me. Without his grace none of this could have been possible. I want to thank my mom and dad, James, Emilee, and the rest of my family for all that they have done and the support they have had for me. I want to thank all of the coaches who recruited me to this point and the time and energy you put into me. I want to thank Coach (Loren) Montgomery (Bixby head coach), Coach Flowers, Coach Clark, and the rest of the Bixby coaching staff for helping me get to this point in my life. With all of that being said, I have decided that I will be committing to the Oklahoma State University to further my education and pursue my dreams in football as a Cowboy! Go Pokes!!!"

Evers is the third commitment on the defensive side of the football in the Pokes 2017 recruiting class, but he is the first on the defensive line and at defensive tackle.
