Four-Star Shenault Talks OSU Visit

Four-star wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. from DeSoto, Texas was one of the top prospects attending the Orange-Black Spring Game this past weekend.

One of the more impressive players at Nike's The Opening Regional in Coppell back in March was one of the many members of the DeSoto High School brigade. The Eagles are always loaded with talent, especially at the wide receiver position where they have two knockouts in KD Nixon, who recently committed to Tennessee, and Laviska Shenault Jr.

The deep ball looked like a specialty for Shenault at the competition back on March 13. He was so strong in the one-on-one and the seven-on-seven that he was one of the receivers picked out for the showcase at the end of the day. He also ran a 4.59 electronic forty and measured 6-1, 203 pounds.

This past weekend Shenault made the only spring game at any school he has attended or it seems will attend when he traveled to Stillwater for Oklahoma State's Orange-Black Spring Game.

"I went up there with my coach and another receiver, my teammate Samuel Hunter," Shenault said. "It was a good trip, yes sir. Everything was real nice. I mainly talked with the coaches, coach (Kasey) Dunn, (head) coach (Mike) Gundy, and the offensive coordinator coach (Mike) Yurcich. Then we watched the spring game. That was it."

Shenault has seen his recruiting blow up as he now has offers from Oklahoma State, Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Mississippi State, New Mexico, North Texas, and SMU. He said he might try to check out some schools and maybe some camps this summer.

Shenault doesn't really have a timetable for his decision. Last season he had 28 receptions for 494 yards and three touchdowns as DeSoto was loaded with older receiver talent, but this season expect for him and Nixon to be the mainstays in the Eagles passing game.
