Offensive tackle commits to Cowboys

News is good for OSU offensive line.

On Wednesday the Cowboys gained a pledge from one of the nation's top quarterbacks in Robert Reid out of Galena Park North Shore in Texas, now on Thursday we've learned of a big offensive tackle prospect that has committed and may some day be protecting Reid's blind side.

Chris Simon is a 6-5, 330 pound All District offensive tackle out of Texas Class 4A school Waller. Simon is a late bloomer that started for the first time as a junior and went on to earn All District honors.

"I just thought Oklahoma State was the right fit for me," said Simon who is being recruited by O-State assistant Joe DeForest. "I'm not sure what I want to major in, but OSU is a good school and they are really coming up in football."

Simon said he was also recruited by Arkansas, SMU, UTEP, and one of the schools in Louisiana. He said he also camped this summer at TCU and at Texas A&M.

Simons moves well for a big man with a best 40 time of 5.3 seconds.

The Cowboys could soon learn of another offensive line commitment as Guthrie offensive guard David Washington told First Down Sports that he is close to a decision between his top two schools of Oklahoma State and Colorado State. The 6-4, 265 pounder is very athletic and is likely a guard at the college level. He was a big reason that Guthrie upset a number of team on the way to winning the Class 5A State Championship in 2002. Washington said his decision will come sometime next week.

Meanwhile, Simon is Oklahoma State's 10th verbal pledge in recruiting. Below is a complete rundown of the early commitments in the Big 12 including OSU.
