Mustang Team Camp Features Top Prospects

The Mustang Team Camp on Wednesday will feature some of the top talent in the state of Oklahoma, including standout offensive line prospect Creed Humphrey from Shawnee High School.

Mustang High School head football coach Jeremy Dombeck started this team camp when he was head coach at Edmond North High School. He has continued the tradition since arriving at Mustang and tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. when the teams convene and begin working out, the Mustang Broncos Team Camp will have 15 schools and the best collection of individual high school talent in one place other than maybe the upcoming individual or prospect camps at Oklahoma State University or the University of Oklahoma.

For Oklahoma State fans, you would start with one of the Cowboys 10 verbal commitments in Bixby defensive tackle Brendon Evers as the 6-2, 290-pound Evers will be fun to watch. He is a high-motor player that last season had 72 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. All of those are high numbers for a defensive tackle.

My favorite offensive line prospect in the state is Creed Humphrey of Shawnee. The 6-5, 300-pound Humphrey is worth watching on video as about a third of his highlights end up looking like the scene in the movie "The Blind Side," maybe not that dramatic but he pushes a lot of players a long way. Some of them are comical when he is so dominant. He has offers from Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas.

His teammate in receiver and returner Tyree York is small at 5-9, 147 pounds but he is fast at 4.47 and last season caught 37 passes for 552 yards and five touchdowns.

My top receiver prospect at the camp would be Rubell Goe of Bishop McGuinness. The 6-1, 190-pound Goe had 62 receptions last season for 1,390 yards and 19 touchdowns. I want to see him work like I saw him at The Opening Regional at Coppell, Texas. I would love to know how fast Goe is.

Southmoore is loaded and one of my very favorite prospects in the Oklahoma 2017 class is defender (CB/Saf/Star LB) Gervarrius Owens. The 6-1, 190-pound Owens has a bunch of offers including Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas, Iowa State, Memphis, and Purdue. Last season he had 64 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six sacks, and two interceptions. Owens can hurt opponents in a variety of ways. Quian Williams is a talented wide receiver and Quindon Lewis is a strong safety prospect for 2017.

Southmoore is loaded for 2018 with the celebrated quarterback prospect Casey Thompson. Oklahoma State offered Thompson early and OU has now followed suit, and in between there have been a bunch for the son of former Sooner quarterback Charles Thompson. Casey is 6-1, 175 pounds and last season rushed for 1,011 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing for 2,670 yards with 32 touchdowns and only four interceptions. I saw him at Nike's The Opening Regional and he was competitive with the best 2017 prospects.

His teammate and state champion heavyweight wrestler Brey Walker is committed to OU after OSU offered the then sophomore first.

Midwest City's Evan Fields is a highly regarded prospect with a lot of offers. The 5-11, 185-pound Fields has offers from Houston, Kansas State, New Mexico, and Memphis among others.

Scout and Go Pokes will be at the Mustang camp to see all of the above prospects. Here is a bigger list of top players attending the Mustang Team Camp with their schools.
