Today (Monday, June 6) was the first day of summer classes for the first session and that meant the Oklahoma State football squad was back for summer school and for the start of the summer program led by Assistant Athletic Director for Speed, Strength, and Conditioning Rob Glass and his staff.
How quickly do Glass and his staff get going? This afternoon I saw a group of linemen on the field inside Boone Pickens Stadium going through a workout.
A cursory check just because I know everybody is always wanting to know, to my knowledge all of the veteran players are back and participating. Most of the scholarship freshman have arrived and are moved in and participating. Right now they are going through testing and orientation to the program.
There are several incoming freshmen that will be checking in for the second session in July. Transfer Lenzy Pipkins from Louisiana-Monroe is on campus. Running back Barry J. Sanders is finishing up at Stanford and I am told will check in next week after graduating.
The only freshman that we know will not be reporting to Oklahoma State is Oklahoma City (John Marshall) offensive lineman Tramonda Moore, who will be attending junior college. In a side note, there are 22 walk-ons that have reported to join the program with five more expected for the second session and two more when school starts. The walk-on program under the direction of assistant recruiting coordinator Mike Groce is one of the best in the country.
We'll have more as we continue to check on the arrivals of newcomers and transfers over the summer.
