Hassel Red Hot Heading Into Super Regional

Corey Hassel couldn't have picked a more opportune time to begin hitting the baseball better than he has all season, but the Oklahoma State senior is pleased to be leading the Cowboys into this weekend's Super Regional after his MVP performance in last weekend's Clemson Regional.

Red hot is a good way to be heading to the other side of the Palmetto State and readying to play South Carolina in the Gamecocks ballpark for the Super Regional. Stillwater's own senior Corey Hassel is one of the Cowboys streaking right now.

Hassel provided the crowning blow in the Clemson Regional with his grand slam home run in the fifth inning of the Cowboys win that finished off the regional championship. Hassel was named the MVP in the regional and hit .455 with two doubles and six RBI to go with that grand slam.

Conor Costello was the leading hitter in the regional with a .667 average, two home runs, two doubles, and seven RBI. The pitching was strong from all three starters, All-American Thomas Hatch, Tyler Buffer, and Freshman All-American Jenson Elliott.

Now the 39-20 Cowboys get ready for the Super Regional opener against the 46-16 Gamecocks at 2 p.m. (CT) on Saturday televised on ESPN2.

Moving forward, which is what the Cowboys are all about, we were still able to get Hassel to describe his grand slam at bat at Clemson.
