LaMarcus Morton Coming To OSU As A Cornerback

LaMarcus Morton of Gilmer, Texas is an outstanding receiver for Gilmer High School, and many schools were recruiting him to catch the ball. But the recent Oklahoma State commitment says that he'll play cornerback for the Cowboys.

Recent Oklahoma State commitment LaMarcus Morton of East Texas Class 4A powerhouse Gilmer High School has been recruited by a lot of schools as a wide receiver, but he plays both ways and returns kicks and punts for the Buckeyes.

We listed him initially as a wide receiver but Morton confirmed to us that he is going to play as a big corner for the Cowboys. His recruiting coaches were Tim Duffie and Dan Hammerschimdt.

"I have a great relationship with coach Duffie and coach Hammer," said Morton. "I can play on the defensive side. I play both ways at Gilmer and special teams. I take pride in all of it."

He explained that he gains an advantage having played wide receiver and he can apply that advantage to defending receivers in the future. The 6-1, 175-pound Morton is enthusiastic and said he is excited to have his recruiting decision taken care of and out of the way as he prepares for his senior season for the orange and black team in East Texas.

He spoke to us on Triple Play Sports Radio on Monday morning about playing corner and committing to Oklahoma State.
