Big offensive lineman Dan Moore Jr. (Beaumont West Brook High School) was just offered by Oklahoma State a couple of weeks ago but he did not take long to decide as the Beaumont, Texas product signaled his own commitment with a familiar phrase on his Twitter account.
"Pistols firing from Beaumont, Texas. After talking with my family and giving a lot of thought, I have decided to commit to Oklahoma State University," wrote Moore. "I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank Coach Gundy and Coach Adkins. Go Pokes."
Moore was in attendance at the Mary Hardin-Baylor satellite camp in Houston on June 3. An offer was extended the next Monday when the Oklahoma State staff was back in Stillwater and meeting over players they had seen and liked in the camp tour. He picked up offers from Missouri and others on the tour, including Colorado State. He also had offers from Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Lamar, New Mexico, Texas State, UTSA, and more.
At the camp, Moore measured 6-5, 300 pounds, ran a 5.66 forty, jumped a 7-5 in the long jump, and ran a 5.1 in the 5-10-5 shuttle. He has a 385-pound bench press max and a 500-pound in the squat.
On video, Moore is a classic mauler as if he can get tied up with a defender he is not going to lose him, he really just kind of engulfs smaller defenders and drives them 10 or more yards downfield. Moore is also pretty good with his feet. He is a solid pass protector, but tie ups and drives on run plays are obviously what he enjoys most at this stage.
He is the second offensive line commitment to go with Derek Kerstetter of San Antonio (Reagan), Texas. The Cowboys could wind up taking one more offensive lineman and perhaps a bonus if they get a real difference maker.
