Arizona State announced on Tuesday that the Sun Devils have agreed to play Oklahoma State in a home-and-home series starting in Stillwater on Sept. 10, 2022 at Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys will then travel to Tempe on Sept. 9, 2023 to play in Sun Devil Stadium.
“I am excited about the series with Oklahoma State University,” ASU coach Todd Graham said in a press release. “Scheduling is very important to the overall success of a program and this is the type of match-up that we are seeking to fulfill our future dates. This series will continue to help build our football program.”
Oklahoma State has not released information on the series and Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy was not available for comment.
The Cowboys and Sun Devils have met up on the football field three times, with ASU holding a 2-1 series lead. Their last meeting came in 1993, when ASU won 12-10 in Tempe. Oklahoma State won the first meeting in 1984 in Pat Jones' first game as head coach as the Cowboys opened the season crushing the nationally ranked Sun Devils 45-3. Arizona State won 30-3 in Stillwater in 1991.
The Cowboys have won three bowl games in Sun Devil Stadium beating BYU 16-6 in the 1974 Fiesta Bowl, defeating Indiana 49-33 in the Insight Bowl, and finally in the 2014 season they finished the season with a 30-22 win over Washington in the Cactus Bowl.
