Plano East High School linebacker Anthony Hines found a new way to make news at Nike's The Opening as most prospects at the event making a recruiting announcement come out with a commitment. Honestly, many of those commitments haven't stuck over the years. The Opening is a little bit of made for television drama, but we all love it.
Hines came up with a more reasonable announcement and one that made 10 schools happy.
The video that features highlights of Hines in action and after each highlight until the end shows one of nine schools that he has narrowed his recruiting down to. Then at the end he has two highlights before revealing the final school of the list of 10 and it is Oklahoma State. Hines had 90 offers and his final 10 includes, in order they appear on the video, TCU, Ohio State, Florida, Texas A&M, Texas, UCLA, Oklahoma, Auburn, SMU, and Oklahoma State.
The 6-2.5 and 222-pound Hines is one of the top prospects in the nation and his numbers are simply off the chart as last season he had 205 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, eight passes broken up, three fumbles caused, and a fumble recovery.
HIs career numbers, which also include 23 carries for 143 rushing yards and a touchdown as a freshman, have 399 tackles, 65 tackles for loss, and 22 sacks.
No word on when Hines will narrow it down any further, but for now 10 schools, including Oklahoma State, are in the running.
