He is easily one of the top rated recruits in the entire nation. Five-star linebacker Anthony Hines of Plano (East), Texas spoke with me on my radio show on Triple Play Sports Radio and discussed a variety of topics.
The 6-3, 225-pound standout has been recruited since the eighth grade. He has gone through it the right way with humility. Hey, his recent video spotlighting his top 10 schools (Ohio State, TCU, UCLA, Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, Oklahoma, SMU, and Oklahoma State) had plenty of highlights, but when you had 206 total tackles. 24 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks then you have plenty of highlights to show.
Hines said he is starting to tire of the process and he is anxious about making a decision on his future school. However, he is being diligent and is checking everything out. He has been on the campus of every school in his top 10 except UCLA and Florida.
He said he would try to take his official visits early in the fall and you would guess those two far outpost schools would be two schools getting visits. Six of his schools in Texas and Oklahoma are driving distance and he made visits to two of them earlier this week.
In the interview, Hines details his trips this week to Stillwater and Norman. It sounds like spending as much time around the coaches is a priority as he tries to decide who he wants coaching him in the future. I think relationships with coaches and makeup of teams will have a huge impact on his decision.
He has worked hard in getting ready for his senior season and he is resolute on what the goal is and that is putting Plano East on the path for a Class 6A state championship in Texas.
So, what is it like to be offered by over 60 schools? Listen to Anthony Hines and find out.
