Etienne Has Pokes On His Hot Five

Running back Travis Etienne of Jennings, La., announced via Twitter his top five schools – Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas A&M – on Friday night.

Tonight would have been a good night to have Jennings, La., running back Travis Etienne over for supper on the training table.

First, Etienne, a Cowboy target dating back to the spring, followed up his de-commitment from Texas A&M with naming his new top five. That list is (in order) Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and A&M. Etienne posted that list Friday night on his Twitter account, @swaggy_11.

The other reason tonight would have been good for dinner is the Cowboys, staff, and Extreme Campers were dining on some delicious fried catfish. That's always a popular choice in Louisiana.

Etienne had pledged to the Aggies back in May, but announced his de-commitment on Monday, Aug. 1. His previous top 10 before the commitment to A&M included the Cowboys and his other current top five schools plus Virginia Tech, Cal, Mississippi State, Oregon State, and North Carolina.

In all, the 5-11, 199-pound Etienne has 17 offers. Last season he broke out with 2,933 yards and 40 touchdowns on 244 carries.

In an obvious but legal invitation to join in, Cowboys running backs coach Marcus Arroyo tweeted a picture of himself, head coach Mike Gundy, and all six of the Louisiana native players on the OSU roster, including star linebacker Kevin Henry, slot receiver Jalen McCleskey, freshman quarterback Keondre Wudtee, freshman cornerback Rodarius Williams, offensive lineman Marcus Keyes, and defensive tackle Vincent Taylor, who was displaced to Texas by Hurricane Katrina. The picture has over it the angry Pete face over the state of Louisiana and the words "Reppin the Boot".

Etienne said he will take his time this go round and watch the schools early in the season to see which school would be the best fit for him.
