Future Cowboys: Another Big Week

Shamond Greenwood scored three touchdowns. Chuba Hubbard had a 105-yard touchdown run (yes, 105 yards!). Tyon Merchant returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown, and also blocked a punt and a PAT. Tracin Wallace ran for two TDs and threw for another, to his brother Tylan (pictured above). Another good week for future OSU Cowboys. Here’s a quick look at how all of OSU’s commits performed in this past week’s games.

The Skinny: Evers was not able to participate in Bixby’s season opener Friday night in which the Spartans were trying to end a 26-game losing streak to Jenks because he’s still recovering from a knee injury. The Jenks Trojans scored with 40 seconds left to pull out a 38-34 victory over the Spartans.

The Skinny: Greenwood’s 47-yard touchdown catch with 20 seconds left gave Lakeview Centennial a 34-27 victory over North Mesquite on Saturday in the third game of the Cotton Bowl Prep Showcase. Greenwood finished with six catches for 134 yards and three TDs.

The Skinny: Hubbard showed why he’s considered the top high school prospect in Canada in the season opener Friday night as Bev Facey defeated Bellerose 45-1 (yes, 45-1 is the correct score). Hubbard scored three touchdowns, including a 105-yard scoring run (remember the Canadian football field is 120 yards in length) and a 38-yard TD.

The Skinny: Martin was outstanding as the Oologah Mustangs opened the season in convincing fashion Thursday night with a 43-14 victory over No. 1-ranked Class 5A Collinsville. The standout defensive end had 11 tackles – seven unassisted – and one sack in the victory, according to the Tulsa World.

The Skinny: Mbanasor and his Hendrickson teammates finally got the season started a week after the supposed opener was canceled because of inclement weather. Hendrickson suffered a 55-27 loss to Belton on Friday night.

The Skinny: Merchant had a 53-yard interception return for a touchdown but it wasn’t enough as A&M Consolidated opened the season with a 34-28 loss to Foster on Friday night. Merchant’s interception return for a TD gave A&M Consolidated a 28-21 lead with 11:09 remaining but Foster scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to rally for the win. In addition to scoring the touchdown Merchant also blocked a punt and blocked a point-after-touchdown in the game.
