Future Cowboys: Chuba Hubbard Has Big Day

Chuba Hubbard touched the ball 11 times and scored three touchdowns. J.D. King found the end zone four times (two rushing scores and two receiving TDs) for Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane. Dan Moore helped block his team to its third consecutive win. It was another outstanding week for future OSU Cowboys. Here’s a quick look at how all of OSU’s commits performed in this past week’s games.

The Skinny: Bixby saw its record drop to 0-2 with a 44-34 loss to Bentonville (Ark.).

The Skinny: Greenwood caught three passes for 34 yards but for the first time this season did not have a touchdown reception in helping Garland Lakeview Centennial to a 42-35 victory over West Mesquite. Through three games, Greenwood has 14 catches for 324 yards (23.1-yard average) and five touchdowns.

The Skinny: Hubbard only touched the ball 11 times this past week but he scored three touchdowns in Bev Facey’s 55-0 victory over Ross Sheppard. The top-ranked high school prospect in Canada rushed for 142 yards on 10 carries and caught one pass that resulted in a 19-yard touchdown. Through three games, Hubbard has 524 rushing yards on 33 carries (15.9 yards per attempt) with six touchdowns, and has caught two passes for 28 yards, both resulting in TDs.

The Skinny: Johnson’s 52-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter pulled Arlington Bowie within 30-29 and then the Volunteers scored late in the game for the 35-30 victory. Arlington Bowie is 3-0 entering a bye week.

The Skinny: The Reagan Rattlers improved to 2-1 with Friday night’s 41-7 victory over Harlingen.

The Skinny: King scored four touchdowns (two rushing and two receiving) as the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane rolled to an easy 70-42 victory over Macon County in a game that was originally scheduled to be played Friday night but was moved to Saturday because of the weather. The 70 points by the Purple Hurricane is the most points scored by a Fitzgerald team since 1933.

The Skinny:  Oologah is showing that it needs to be taken seriously as a Class 4A contender. A week after knocking off No. 1-ranked Class 5A Collinsville, the Mustangs only allowed 97 yards of total offense in rolling to a 30-0 shutout of Skiatook.

The Skinny: Mbanasor and Hendrickson defeated Manor 40-17 – scoring 23 unanswered points in the second half after being tied at halftime – for their first win of the season.

The Skinny: McCune rushed for 36 yards on six carries to help the Dallas Christian Chargers defeat Fort Worth Christian 24-20 on Friday night.

The Skinny: Misko caught a 13-yard touchdown pass off a fake field goal on the final play of the first half to give Keller a 14-13 halftime lead, but it wouldn’t hold up as L.D. Bell rallied for a 26-14 victory on Saturday.

The Skinny: Moore and the West Brook offensive linemen did the job Thursday night as the Bruins dominated the line of scrimmage. West Brook rolled up more than 350 rushing yards en route to a 48-9 victory over C.E. King.

The Skinny: Morton caught three passes for a team-best 82 yards, including a 71-yard scoring reception from quarterback Aaron Brown in the third quarter, as fourth-ranked Class 4A Gilmer improved to 3-0 with a 61-19 victory over Argyle Liberty Christian.

The Skinny: Mwaniki rushed for 20 yards on three carries, including a 6-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and also caught a 53-yard pass as Denton Guyer defeated Dallas Kimball 63-7.

The Skinny: Forney lost 45-16 to Terrell on Friday night as the Jackrabbits suffered their first loss of the season.

The Skinny: Tracin Wallace did not play Thursday night in South Hills’ 41-12 victory over Dallas Adams. The South Hills senior will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL – for the second time in two years – in the team’s victory over Saginaw on Sept. 2. In two games this season, Tracin was 19-of-29 passing for 333 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions, and he had rushed for 209 yards on 20 carries (10.45 yards per attempt) with three touchdowns.

The Skinny: Tylan Wallace caught a team-high seven passes for 66 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown reception from new quarterback Trey Jones as South Hills defeated Dallas Adams 41-12 on Thursday night. For the season, he has 15 catches for 260 yards (17.3 yards per reception) with three touchdowns.
