A burning topic for Oklahoma State fans has been the status of senior wide receiver Marcell Ateman.
A potential explosive weapon to add to an already explosive offense, Ateman, who is 6-4, 215 and a wide receiver who can high point the football on virtually any defender, broke his foot in late July. He has been out so far this season following surgery to repair the injury.
It was right around this time with the open week that Gundy and the staff expected to know more on Ateman.
"He's doing good. He's running," Gundy said. "He was running today. He's in a week-to-week mode. They're going to start doing change of direction stuff next week, and from then we're going to see where he's at."
Ateman does have a redshirt and could be held out and return next season. He is also a potential NFL prospect, even a decent round draft selection. Depending on how rapidly he heals and becomes available from this point forward could go a long way in determining what his status will be in the second half of the season.
