The 37-20 victory over West Virginia on Saturday has put the Pokes back in the polls (#22 in both the USA Today Coach's Poll and the AP Poll) and they should be in the Top 25 with the CFP committee on Tuesday.
Now, there is a minuscule chance of making the CFP but there is a major opportunity now to win the Big 12. This has to be the plan.
Nov. 5 at Kansas State (2:30 p.m.) – Tough place to play and a good opponent that beat Iowa State on Saturday. The Cowboys are more talented but that doesn't always add up with playing Bill Snyder and the Wildcats. The team must prepare and play well on the road.
Nov. 12 Texas Tech (TBA) – The final home game and the big crowd that stayed will be needed for what I think may be a night game. Tech has an explosive offense and the Raiders showed defensive improvement in upsetting TCU on Saturday.
Nov. 19 at TCU (TBA) – Never an easy place to play and Frogs head coach Gary Patterson always puts his intensity coaches shirt on for this game. He likes to beat Oklahoma State and has only been able to do it once since joining the Big 12.
Dec. 3 at Oklahoma (TBA) – This again could be the de-facto Big 12 championship game and OU will be ready. I like the matchup with the Sooners defense. The real challenge will be stopping Mayfield and Mixon (or Perrine) and Westbrook.
The Cowboys must go 4-0 to finish the season, and Baylor needs to lose to TCU, at OU or at West Virginia to clear the path for a Big 12 Championship.
