Future Cowboys: Playoffs Continue

Here’s a quick look at how all of OSU’s commits performed in this past week’s playoff games.
The Skinny: Evers and the Bixby Spartans will be playing for their third consecutive Oklahoma Class 6AII state championship after a 35-21 victory over Sand Springs in the semifinals. The Spartans improve to 9-3 entering the state championship game.

Next: Friday, Dec. 2, vs. Lawton (8-4) in Oklahoma Class 6AII championship game.
The Skinny: Greenwood caught eight passes for 66 yards but the standout receiver saw his high school career come to an end in a 69-45 loss to Beaumont West Brook (and Cowboys commit Dan Moore) in a Texas Class 6A-Division II Region II area round playoff game. Greenwood finishes the season with 65 receptions for 1,091 yards (16.8-yard average) and 16 touchdowns.

Beaumont Enterprise: West Brook survives Lakeview Centennials’ second half surge to advance
The Skinny: Hubbard scored touchdowns on runs of 14 and 1 yard as Bev Facey clinched a berth in the Tier 1 Alberta Bowl Provincial Final with a 32-13 victory over Notre Dame (Red Deer). For the season, he now has more than 2,000 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns as the Falcons improved to 13-0.

The Skinny: Johnson caught two passes for 15 yards in Arlington Bowie’s 37-30 victory over Midland in a Texas Class 6A-Division I area-round playoff game. For the season, Johnson has 37 catches for 650 yards (17.6-yard average) and nine touchdowns. Johnson has scored three different ways – punt return, kickoff return and receiving – this season.

Next: Saturday, Nov. 26, vs. Duncanville (10-2) in Texas Class 6A-Division I regional playoff game.
The Skinny: King led a Fitzgerald rushing attack that went for 395 yards in a 48-21 victory over Rockmart. The OSU commit ran for 169 yards on 15 carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run, and also added a 3-yard scoring reception in the Georgia Class 2A second-round playoff game. The second-ranked 2A Purple Hurricane improve to 11-1 with the victory. For the season, King has 1,452 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on 181 carries (8.0-yard average), and has nearly 400 yards and seven TDs receiving this season.

The Skinny: Oologah improved to 11-1 with a 35-14 victory over Tuttle in a second-round Oklahoma Class 4A playoff game.

The Skinny: Dallas Christian’s season came to a heartbreaking end with a 41-35 double overtime loss to Grapevine Faith Christian in a Texas TAPPS Division II quarterfinal playoff game. Dallas Christian finishes 11-1 after scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime.

The Skinny: Moore and the other offensive linemen did the job Friday night as West Brook rolled up 799 total yards (598 rushing) to lead the Bruins to a 69-45 victory over Garland Lakeview Centennial in a Texas Class 6A-Division II Region II area round playoff game. Joel Denley (318 yards and five touchdowns) and L’Ravien Elia (275 yards and 2 TDs) led West Brook (11-1).

The Skinny: Morton caught five passes for 78 yards, including a 28-yard reception for a touchdown in the game’s first few minutes, in Gilmer’s 55-6 victory over Melissa in a Class 4A-Division II area-round playoff game. For the season, Morton has 55 catches for 1,068 yards (19.4-yard average) and 11 touchdowns. Seventh-ranked Gilmer jumps all over Melissa, rolls 55-6

The Skinny: Mwaniki caught a pass for 19 yards in his final high school game but Cedar Hill rallied for a 23-21 victory over Denton Guyer in a Texas Class 6A-Division I area-round playoff game.
Denton Record-Chronicle: Second half collapse dooms Guyer season
The Skinny: The most recent OSU commit, Sterling scored three touchdowns but it wasn’t enough as Sunnyvale suffered a 45-35 loss to Farmersville in a Texas Class 3A-Division I playoff game. Sterling scored on a 50-yard punt return in the first quarter and then added touchdown runs of 7 and 5 yards later in the game. He finished with 176 rushing yards and two TDs on 22 carries, and also caught five passes for 46 yards. For the season, Sterling finishes with 2,085 yards and 32 touchdowns on 202 carries, and 298 receiving yards and four TDs on 21 catches. A two-way standout, he had 63 tackles on defense (40 unassisted), with four interceptions, five forced fumbles, and four fumbles recovered entering the final game of his high school playing career.

The Skinny: Trailing 3-0 at halftime, Woods directed Cedar Grove to touchdowns on four straight second-half possessions (and had two other second-half TDs called back because of penalties) for a 28-3 victory over Savannah Jenkins in the Georgia Class AAA second-round playoff game. The Saints (10-2) lost three fumbles in the first half but rolled up 267 rushing yards in the second half – including a TD run by Woods – to rally for the victory.

2018 Commit
The Skinny: Sanders accounted for nearly 400 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in helping Denton Ryan improve to 12-0 with Friday night’s 34-13 victory over Richland in a Texas Class 5A-Division I area-round playoff game. Sanders was 22-of-35 passing for 296 yards and a 76-yard TD pass, while also rushing for 93 yards and a 4-yard TD on 17 carries. For the season, Sanders is 190 of 298 passing for 2,885 yards with 34 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He also leads the Raiders with 821 rushing yards on 131 carries (6.3-yard average) with 17 TDs.
