Rumors Say Gundy Meeting With Baylor

Mike Gundy is reportedly meeting with Baylor Athletic Director Mack Rhoades about the school's head coaching position.

There are indications, and some believe completely true, that Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy has met or may currently be meeting with Baylor University and the one-man search committee for the next Baylor head coach in the school's new athletic director Mack Rhoades.

There have been rumors swirling throughout the day, but it is hard to separate emotions left from Oklahoma State's 38-20 loss in Bedlam and the defacto Big 12 Championship Game and actual happenings. Our sources have told us that Baylor did reach out to Gundy during the process and since the loss to Oklahoma the relationship has intensified between Gundy and Baylor.

Matt Mosley, a former host on ESPN Radio in Dallas and a former reporter on Fox Sports Southwest Big 12 Live shows, is credited with tweeting that Gundy is in play for the Baylor job. It has been rumored that Baylor was also interested in Jeff Brohm, who earlier today left his job at Western Kentucky to take the Purdue head coaching job, and Sonny Dykes at Cal-Berkeley.

Later Mosley tweeted that while he said Gundy was in play, he still wouldn't bet on it happening. Gundy was on the road recruiting yesterday and was in the office briefly on Monday and then back out. It is uncertain where Gundy is, but one source told us he did leave Stillwater later on Monday.

A former quarterback, position coach, offensive coordinator, and then head coach at Oklahoma State, Gundy is 103-50 as head coach of the Cowboys and is the all-time winningest coach at the school. Gundy did coach at Baylor for one season as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for Chuck Reedy, who had succeeded Baylor Hall-of-Fame coach Grant Teaff.

Checking with several sources in the Oklahoma State football program, no one was really sure where Gundy was late Monday afternoon and evening, but one source believed he was in transit to meet with or was meeting with Baylor.

Also, our sources tell us that Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer spoke with officials at Georgia State about that school's head coaching vacancy.
