Oklahoma State will face Baylor on Oct. 14 for Homecoming during the 2017 football season, the OSU Alumni Association announced Tuesday.
The Cowboys suffered a 35-24 loss to the Bears in this past season's game – one of only three losses during the 2016 season – and have now lost three in a row to Baylor. The Cowboys lost three fumbles, including the second by Justice Hill after he picked up a first down at the Baylor 2-yard line with Oklahoma State trailing 28-24 with nine minutes remaining. Hill, who had 122 yards rushing, was originally ruled down, but the call was overturned on review.
A week after throwing for a national season-high 540 yards to beat Pittsburgh for the Cowboys, Mason Rudolph was 27 of 45 passing for 279 yards with an interception. It was the first loss in a true road game for Rudolph since his debut as a freshman at Baylor two years ago, a span that included six straight road wins. Baylor is the only Big 12 team the senior-to-be hasn't beaten during his OSU playing career.
"America's Greatest Homecoming Celebration" is scheduled Oct. 5-14.
Homecoming festivities will officially begin with the Cowboy Stampede Rodeo on Thursday, Oct. 5. The Edmon Low Library fountain will be dyed America's Brightest Orange on Sunday, Oct. 8. Other traditional Homecoming events planned include the Harvest Carnival and Chili Cook-Off (October 10), Walkaround (October 13) and the Sea of Orange Parade (October 14). The Cowboys will host the Baylor Bears inside Boone Pickens Stadium to officially conclude the Homecoming festivities.
Members of the the 2017 Homecoming Executive Team was selected several weeks ago. The team will announce the theme for Homecoming 2017 in February.
OSU’s Homecoming is presented each year by the OSU Alumni Association and nationally recognized as “America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration.” The event returns tens of thousands of proud alumni to Stillwater during the fall to partake in the festivities and reconnect with their alma mater.
