OSU-Iowa State Postgame Notes

Notes from Oklahoma State's 96-86 loss to Iowa State.

  • Oklahoma State shot 52.4 percent from the floor, which is OSU's second-best shooting night of the season and the team's best in Big 12 play.
  • Tonight's game against Iowa State marked the 999th men's basketball game on the historic white maple floor of Gallagher-Iba Arena, which dates back to the first game in the arena on Dec. 9, 1938 - a 21-15 win over Kansas. OSU is in its 79th season in GIA, and the Cowboys are 780-219 (.781) all-time.
  • The OSU losing streak in Big 12 play is now at 10 after the loss to the Cyclones. An injured Cowboy squad lost its final six Big 12 games last season, and OSU is off to an 0-4 start for the first time in the Big 12 era.
  • Iowa State has now won the last eight matchups against the Cowboys dating back to 2013, which now includes four meetings in Stillwater.
  • Just a week following a career-high 24-point scoring game at Texas,  Jeffrey Carroll  recorded his sixth 20-point scoring game of the season tonightagainst Iowa State. The redshirt junior posted 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting and six boards.
  • Phil Forte tallied 24 points to move his career total to 1,532 to move him past Ronnie McDaniel (1,519 points from 1973-77) and Ivan McFarlin (1,526 points from 2001-05) for 12th on the program's career scoring list.
  • It was Forte's 22nd career 20-point performance, which ties Marcus Smart and Richard Dumas for the 12th most in OSU history.
  • Forte also hit four 3-pointers to move his career total to 286, which is just 13 short of  Keiton Page 's career record.
  • Tonight marked the first time since a March 4, 2015 matchup with TCU in which the Cowboys had a pair of 20-point scorers in Big 12 play.
  • Cameron McGriff  earned his first career start and posted 10 points. It was the freshman's fourth game in double figures.
  • The Cowboys trailed by just a point, 47-46, at the half. OSU is now 0-3 this year when trailing at the half.

    Up Next:
  • The Cowboys will head to Lawrence, Kansas to face the No. 2/2 Jayhawks. With their victory in 2013, the Cowboys are the last Big 12 team to win in Allen Fieldhouse, and Oklahoma State is the only team to beat the Jayhawks in each of the last four seasons.
