Junior Day has already paid off for Oklahoma State as Cowboys defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Glenn Spencer did a nice job of making a relationship with Rockwall, Texas linebacker Blake Barron.
The 6-1, 218-pound linebacker called Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy and Spencer on Monday night and joined Denton Ryan quarterback Spencer Sanders as a commitment in the 2018 class for the Cowboys.
"I did have a good time on Saturday," Barron said of Junior Day at OSU. "When you see the facilities and what they have to offer at Oklahoma State it is impressive. Then Coach Spencer, we had a good talk on Saturday. I looked at the roster and the linebackers and saw what they had for my future. Coach Spencer was the first coach that really extended himself to me and made me feel like a top priority."
Barron had close to 100 tackles this past season for the Yellow Jackets and also had 10 tackles for loss, a sack, and caused four fumbles.
He said he was just offered a scholarship this morning by North Texas and was already hearing from SMU, OKlahoma, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Texas State.
Barron said he is interested in majoring in either fire science or business.
