Briefly: A standout player that was discovered by the Oklahoma State staff when they were recruiting a quarterback at Forney after his junior season. Vaughn played the same hybrid linebacker-safety position in high school that he will start out playing at Oklahoma State. He did not start playing football until his sophomore season in high school.

Other Offers: Committed to Oklahoma State before having any other offers.

High School: He was named to The Dallas Morning News Area top 100 list. Scout has him ranked as a three-star prospect. His senior season he earned 1st-team 15-5A All-District honors at wide receiver with 27 receptions for 519 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, he had 46 tackles, 30 unassisted, 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, two fumbles caused, and four fumbles recovered. As a junior, he was more concentrated on the defensive side and had 101 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three fumbles recovered, a blocked field goal, and a fumble returned for a touchdown. He earned 2nd-Team All-District honors in 12-5A. He also competed in track and field. He was the second best overall athlete by testing numbers at the Nike Coppell, Texas Regional Combine.
