The word has been out there among some media sources, although nobody has actually printed or reported anything just yet, that the new baseball stadium project is very close to being funded and that a rather large, significant donation has been made.
I've checked with sources inside the Oklahoma State athletic department, and while they seem to ooze optimism, nobody is ready to say the project is funded and that they are ready to start construction.
We know the site for the new stadium will be on the northeast corner of McElroy and Washington across from the tennis center.
I've heard that plans call for a start of the 2019 season grand opening, but everything is still rumor until an announcement is made with complete details on what Oklahoma State is building for a baseball program that is in the advanced stages of being rebuilt from its dominant days of making annual appearances in Omaha at the College World Series.
Head coach Josh Holliday did recently address the stadium project and sounded optimistic but guarded.
