Cowboys First Defensive Recruit at Nike Event

Blake Barron was showing the Oklahoma State colors on Sunday at the Nike Opening Regional at Dallas Cowboys headquarters in Frisco. Barron pledged almost immediately after being offered on Junior Day and it is obvious the excitement for him is building.

As I was walking into the very impressive Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, the Dallas Cowboys new headquarters and practice facility, I spied an obvious athlete walking in with an Oklahoma State football hoodie on, and as I got closer it was easy to tell it was Rockwall linebacker Blake Barron.

"I've got to represent," Barron said. "Yes, I'm 100 percent committed."

Barron was eager to talk with some of the other recruits that he met earlier this year back in January on Oklahoma State's first, and so far, only Junior Day. One of those was Fort Worth Eastern Hills linebacker Byron Hobbs and the two met up. Hobbs, who will feature later this week was also very complimentary of the Cowboys as Oklahoma State was his first offer.

Barron said he is expecting to play the middle linebacker at Oklahoma State and can't wait to get to Stillwater.

Barron said he made his mind up based on the coaching staff and how Mike Gundy and his coaches have been at OSU for a long time creating great stability. That was something he was looking for.

He also said he had a good day in Frisco competing in the The Opening Regional.
