Tur Mari Brings Something More Than Tennis to Cowgirls

The 8th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls will host Bedlam for their final home match of the regular season and are favored to beat the Sooners and then celebrate three seniors, three very talented seniors for their careers at Oklahoma State.

Legends Weekend on Friday features a grand afternoon and evening at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center as first the 5th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys tennis team will play their final home match against Tulsa and say good-bye to four seniors as part of the 3rd-ranked doubles team Arjun Kadhe and fellow German natives Lukas Finzelberg, who is ranked 75th in the NCAA in singles, and Lucas Gerch are seniors. The fourth senior is Nathan Roper. They will all be honored after the completion of the match.

The 8th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls will host Bedlam for their final home match of the regular season and are favored to beat the Sooners and then celebrate three seniors, three very talented seniors for their careers at Oklahoma State.

We had comments the other day from Viktoriya Lushkova, who has achieved the highest rankings in Cowgirls history in singles (5th) and doubles in her career. She is a three-time All-American that should end up as a four-time honoree in that department and she is working on her second Big 12 Player of the Year award, which she likely will achieve. Katarina Adamovic is ranked 61st currently in singles and has been another key to the Cowgirls going 17-4 and 5-1 in the Big 12 so far this season.

The third senior has been a clutch doubles player and has won where ever she has been placed in the line-up at singles and is currently ranked 101st in singles in the NCAA. Carla Tur Mari of Spain has added so much more to the team, just ask head coach Chris Young.

"As a senior we are going to miss her as much for what she does off the court as for what she does on it," Young said. "She always has a smile on her face and she always has something funny to say. She is the one that can bring her teammates together. We are going to talk about Carla as much as we are the other two seniors. It is going to be just as hard to replace her as the other two girls and I don't want that to get lost at all."

You have to have that glue player, the one that says the right thing at the right time and keeps everybody loose even in an NCAA Championship Finals match. Tur Mari seems to be that person and she does always have a smile on her face, sometimes a mischievous smile. In other words, keep your eyes on her because she is the one that is also the practical joker.
