The Oklahoma State Cowgirl tennis team is slated for a couple of Big 12 match ups this weekend against West Virginia today and then Iowa State on Sunday. And if the Cowgirls take care of business and win both matches, they’ll claim a share in their second straight Big 12 championship also clinching the program’s third straight 20-win season.
The Cowgirls (18-4, 6-1 Big 12) first head to Morgantown to take on the Lady Mountaineers (4-13, 0-7 Big 12) today at 4 p.m. CT. It will mark the fifth time that the two teams have met, with the Cowgirls leading the series 4-0. In the four previous matches against WVU, the Cowgirls have outscored WVU 21-1 with the latest victory coming in the form of a 4-0 sweep last year season in Stillwater. West Virginia enters Friday's matchup with the Cowgirls with a 4-13 record and still looking for its first Big 12 win of the season at 0-7 in conference play. West Virginia's last win came on Feb. 19 in a 4-3 win over Marshall in Morgantown.
Then on Sunday, the Cowgirls are slated to take on Iowa State (15-8, 1-6 Big 12) in Ames at 10 a.m. CT. In the series against the Cyclones, the Cowgirls have absolutely dominated as they are a perfect 41-0 against the Cyclones dating back to 1980. Iowa State has lost six straight matches with the Cyclones’ one conference win coming against West Virginia.
