In a release from the Big 12, Oklahoma State President, Burns Hargis, was named the Big 12 Representative to NCAA Board of Directors.
(From the Big 12)
"Burns Hargis, President of Oklahoma State University, has been named as the Big 12 representative to the NCAA Board of Directors. Hargis replaces former Iowa State University President Steven Leath, who stepped down in March to take a similar position at Auburn.
The Board of Directors is the overall governing body for Division I, responsible for strategy, policy, governance, membership and legislative oversight.
Hargis was named the 18th President of Oklahoma State University and the OSU System in December 2007 and took office March 10, 2008. He has guided OSU to record enrollment and record fundraising, surpassing with pledges and cash the $1 billion Branding Success campaign goal in April 2013, nearly two years ahead of schedule. The campaign focused on student scholarships, faculty and other vital resources and programs. He also is overseeing a construction boom that is transforming the OSU campus to be more competitive in academics and athletics.
Hargis, who holds degrees in accounting from Oklahoma State University and in law from the University of Oklahoma, is the second OSU graduate to lead the university as president. Oliver S. Willham, who served as president from 1952 to 1966, graduated from then Oklahoma A&M in 1923."
