It happens all the time in recruiting... A prospect makes a commitment but still gets out there and shows off a little. Texas High wide receiver Te'vailance Hunt is quite capable of showing off and he did so at Oklahoma State minicamp on June 2.
STILLWATER -- There was plenty of representation in Stillwater on Friday afternoon at Oklahoma State's first minicamp of the camp season from Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas as a pair of coaches drove four talented players to the camp and they are making the rounds as Arkansas is on the stop for Saturday. The orange from Texas High matches up with the orange from Oklahoma State and the four players looked really good in their drills and that included quarterback Coltin Clack (2019 prospect), defensive end Leonard Parks (2019 prospect), defensive back Jaqualen Brown (2018 prospect) and wide receiver Te'vailance Hunt. Hunt is already well known in the recruiting circles as he made an early commitment to Kansas, but the 6-1, 176 pounder said he is still looking around.
"Well, I'm committed to Kansas right now, but my recruiting process is still open, so," Hunt said with a sheepish grin on his face. "Houston, going to Arkansas tomorrow, and probably Alabama," he added as far as other camps he plans on attending.
Hunt is a talent and was impressive with a 4.58 in the forty. He also put on a show making some circus type catches and showing excellent ball skills. He had a 10'1" on the standing broad jump and that showed up as he is really good at attacking the ball at the high point and battling defenders and winning the ball. Last season he earned 1st-team All-District 15-5A honors with 36 receptions for 701-yards and 10 touchdowns.
Besides Kansas where he's committed at this point, he also has offers from Bowling Green, Central Arkansas, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Nevada, Southern Miss, and Tulsa. Oklahoma State has also offered.
"Keep working on my craft and stay humble," was Hunt's answer when asked what he expects out of himself this season.
Kansas has to be happy that Hunt committed, but they ought to be nervous that he is still showing his talents in the open. He is a very impressive athlete to see up close and, like we wrote several times, a competitor.
