Tonight, while watching “The Show”, Oklahoma State’s invitation only QB, WR and DB camp, Spencer Sanders was putting on a show. He was confident and not only his throwing, but his footwork was on point. In fact, if you weren’t aware that he had torn his right ACL last season against Highland Park and his left ACL during his freshman year, you would’ve never have known it the way he was moving around in the pocket. And when we spoke to Sanders tonight before the one-on-one session started, he said that he’ll be completely cleared for competition this Thursday.
“I felt I did great.” Sanders said about his performance in “The Show”. “It wasn’t just me, it was basically a lot of the receivers helping me out too and just kind of making me look good and doing the best they can and just helping me out.”
Spencer, a four-star recruit and Cowboy commit out of Denton (Texas) Ryan, put up phenomenal stats last season as a junior before he tore his ACL. He led Denton Ryan to a 14-1 record and into the Texas Class 5A Division I state semifinals in 2016. He had 4,357 total yards of offense while throwing for 3,258 yards and 56 total touchdowns with only five INT’s, and rushing for 1,099 yards with 18 TDs.
Speaking with Spencer after the event was over, he was extremely confident that his team is going to be the best in the Texas Class 5A Division I. “I’m gonna walk out of this year with a ring.” Said Sanders with a smile on his face. “No ifs, ands or buts about it. Me and my team.”
