Gabe Lemons Pledges to Pokes

Oklahoma State is on a recruiting roll as they pick up another speedy cornerback in the 2018 recruiting class that was part of the sensational "The Show" camp last week in Stillwater. Coppell's Gabe Lemons has size and speed to be what you want in a Big 12 cornerback.

It was funny as I was just asked moments ago toward the end of my daily radio show on Triple Play Sports Radio as to who Oklahoma State's next football commitment would be? I made a mistake and did not say Coppell, Texas cornerback Gabe Lemons. Lemons committed to Oklahoma State at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

"I am beyond thankful to announce that I have decided to commit to play football at OSU," Lemons wrote on his Twitter account @LemonsGabriel (gabe lemons #24)

It was just a week ago that the 6-0 1/2, 170 pound corner prospect showed out at the Cowboys "The Show" camp. Lemons was excellent in one-on-one drills and ran a 4.44 in the forty with a near 10-foot broad jump and a 4.18 in the 5-10-5 agility drill. Lemons was no doubt a camp find and decision as Oklahoma State moved on offering him after they saw him against the best of the best competition at "The Show."

Lemons working in the secondary might be surprising because last season as a junior he caught 43 passes for 616-yards and seven touchdowns on offense at receiver. He played much less in the secondary as he had one tackle, but he also had one interception that he returned 100-yards for a touchdown. It was a quick 100-yards, just like his 40-yards on Tuesday night were really quick.

Oklahoma State's offer trumped Air Force, Illinois, Rice, and Texas State and Lemons decision makes him the 15th commitment in the Cowboys 2018 recruiting class.
