Washington has his eye on State

Guthrie's David Washington is ready to commit but is looking to make a phone connection with the Cowboy coaches. Most of the staff is out on the road as Oklahoma State is using this as an evaluation weekend...

Guthrie standout offensive guard David Washington has made his decision and he is looking for O-State head coach Les Miles so he can tell him the good news.

Washington, who has been trying to decide between Oklahoma State and Colorado State since late summer, has decided to be a Cowboy.

"I finally decided to go with my heart," said the 6-foot-4-inch, 265-pounder that helped Guthrie to the Class 5A State Championship last season. "Oklahoma State is close to home and I want as many of my family and friends that can to come see me play. OSU is just 45 minutes away and it was the school I really wanted to go to."

Washington said the hangup is that Oklahoma State has already made the one phone call to him this week that they are allowed to under NCAA rules. He said he has Les Miles' cell phone number and has been trying to reach him that way. Many of the Oklahoma State coaches are on the road Thursday and Friday for recruiting evaluations. In fact, there is a chance that OSU assistant Josh Henson, who has been recruiting Washington, could be at his game on Friday in Oklahoma City against Douglass.

Washington has good size and great mobility. One of his real strengths is blocking on the run. He told us that he is playing "pretty well" this season and is pleased with his efforts. Guthrie is 1-2, but the Blue Jays record is misleading as they have played two Top 10 teams and lost by narrow margins.

Washington said he is undecided on a major at OSU, but that he is in good shape academically and is qualified. Washington said he is not worried about not reaching the OSU staff, and that he will do so after his game Friday if he doesn't connect before.

The Cowboys have added two commitments this week with Tyler (Lee), Texas defensive back Martel Van Zant confirming his commitment earlier this week.

Below is a complete list of the Cowboys commitments as of now including Washington, who will soon be added.
