Nader Abdullah is a very intelligent and talented defensive tackle out of Archbishop Rummel in Metairie, Louisiana. He was also pretty fired up on Wednesday night when we spoke to him."It's been really busy and Coach Dunbar of Oklahoma State just left a few minutes ago," said Abdullah. "He is a great guy and a very good coach. My high school coach told me he was a great coach and he was right. He came in here and for two hours told us everything about Oklahoma State. He even showed a tape on defensive line technique and it proved tha he knew what he was talking about. He hit on the academics and all about Oklahoma State."
"Louisville was here on Sunday and I like their coach," added Abdullah of the schedule this week with coaches in the home for the first time. "Tonight it was Oklahoma State and Michigan State. Tomorrow Nebraska, Colorado, and Auburn will be here. Then next week Bobby Bowden is coming in to visit my family and I. Also, Pat Washington of Tennessee was at my school."
Abdullah is playing in the All American High School game in San Antonio and has already mapped out most of his schedule with one date uncertain. He will visit Colorado this weekend, Michigan State on Dec. 12, then Tennessee on Jan. 16 and Florida State on Jan. 23.
"I have one date free and that's Jan. 9, and I'm looking at Oklahoma State, they may get it, or Nebraska, Michigan, UCLA, or Auburn. I'm excited about recruiting, but sometimes I also think how I'd like for it to be over with."
Abdullah and his teammates lost a hard fought playoff game to rival Shreveport Evangel 7-5, but Abdullah had four sacks, two batted passes, a fumble recovery, and a fumble forced in the game.
"I played it like it was my last game, and unfortunately, it was."
Archbishop Rummel had lost to Evangel the previous two seasons in the semifinals, this year's loss came in the second round, but Abdullah doesn't have to worry about it being his last game, just his last high school game. He's got a lot of football left to be played at the next level.
