McFarlin earns Big 12 Player of the Week honors

STILLWATER, Okla. Oklahoma State senior Ivan McFarlin, who received his degree last week during commencement exercises, was named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced today. McFarlin will in all likelihood regain a year of eligibility that he lost when he enrolled at OSU as a partial qualifier.

The 6-8 forward from Missouri City, Texas, averaged 16 points and 11.5 rebounds in two Cowboy victories last week. He scored 19 points and grabbed 10 boards in OSU's home win over Southeastern State, and followed that with a 13-point, 13-rebound performance vs. the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville on Saturday afternoon.

For the year, McFarlin leads the squad in rebounding, averaging 7.4 boards per contest. He is second on the team in scoring with 82 points in seven games, an average of 11.7 points per contest. He is shooting 57.7 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free-throw line. He also has 15 blocks on the season, leading the team.

Following Tuesday's game with Texas-Pan American, the Pokes will take off a few days for the holidays before resuming practice on Friday afternoon. Oklahoma State will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30, as the Cowboys host Samford at 7:05 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
