The Way It Went

The Cowboys missed out on all of the prospects they went into the final days of recruiting contending for, but O-State fans need to realize that with the exception of picking up another defensive tackle or two and another offensive lineman, this class has as good a talent and difference makers as any class in school history.

Quarterback Robert Reid, linebacker Roderick Johnson, defensive end Nathan Peterson, tailback Mike Hamilton, and offensive lineman Jeray Chaham all qualify as difference makers.

As for the final recruits OSU was contending for, Franklin Okam started the barren run when he announced on Fox Sports Southwest that he was going to Texas. NEO defensive lineman Remi Ayodele admitted that the rumor that Karl Dunbar was leaving OSU for the Bears had some impact in his signing with OU. Demario Pressley stayed home and signed with N.C.State, and Little Rock Central defensive tackle Fred Bledsoe did the same as he chose Arkansas.

No surprises as Fort Bend Hightower offensive lineman Tyrone Byrd stayed with Miami and Gainesville, Texas , cornerback Darcel McBath signed with Texas Tech.

The Cowboys did not sign Fort Bend Hightower athlete Mark Johnson. Johnson is likely not to qualify and will probably go to a junior college.
