Big Turnout For Pro Timing Day

Scouts were there from virtually every NFL team, but with Mother Nature providing a downpour almost the entire day the festivities were moved inside and all two-time All American Rashaun Woods and NFL Combine star Tatum Bell did nothing more than wave hello and swap stories with the scouts on hand.

Of the draftable Cowboys Greg Richmond helped himself with a 4.71 in the forty. Antonio Smith, nursing a bad hamstring ran a 4.86, Khreem Smith ran a 4.84, and junior Chris Wright, who declared early for the draft ran a 4.58 while posting a vertical jump of 34 inches, and a broad jump of 9 feet and 8 1/2 inches.

Richmond is being looked at as a linebacker. Both Antonio Smith and Khreem Smith are considered defensive ends. Wright will likely be a safety. Fath' Carter is being scouted as a safetyprospect but he didn't run because of injury. Luke Phillips couldn't kick but he ran a 4.84, and former OSU deep snapper and current strength assistant coach Jed Newkirk may have earned himself a contract as he ran well and lifted well and snapped with NFL velocity and accuracy.

Former OSU quarterback Aso Pogi was there and clocked a 5.13 in the forty. He wanted to go up and throw for the scouts in the rain and asked Rashaun Woods to cath passes, but Woods gave him a funny look and said, "no thanks."

The seniors to be were also timed by the scouts and Darrent Williams blazed a 4.28 getting an eye popping reaction from the pro scouts. Two other defensive backs, Jon Holland and Robert Jones both clocked 4.46 in the forty. Holland may have been even faster but he pulled up just before the finish with a slight hamstring pull.

The strength staff conducted the timing of the rest of the squad.
