Sean Sutton Q&A On Big 12 Tourney Win,NCAA Seeding

After the Cowboys disposed of Texas 65-49 in the Big 12 Championship Game and just after the Cowboys were announced as a two seed in the East Rutherford Regional of the NCAA starting in Kansas City on Friday against Big Sky Champ Eastern Washington we spoke to Sean Sutton in the room where the Cowboys watched the CBS selection show.

OSSR: The Cowboys held Texas without a bucket for 14 minutes in the second half of the game. That was an impressive defensive showing.

Sean: It was one of the great performances we've ever had out of one of our teams defensively to hold Texas to 49 points and 14 minutes without a basket with all the weapons that they have. Really, a pretty incredible achievement by our guys, a team effort, and on a day where I didn't think we played very well of the offensive end, we shot 41 percent which isn't going to happen very often with this team, to grind it out and beat a really good Texas team by 16 points is something we are very happy with.

OSSR: There were three Cowboys on the All Tournament Team including the Player of the Tournament in Tony Allen, but talk about the sentimental hero in Terrence Crawford. he had blocks, steals, scored, and did it all after suffering a hip pointer on a cheap shot by Brian Boddicker.

Sean: His performance today will be talked about for a lot of years to come. This will be a championship that will be celebrated for a long time and he played a major part of it, the reason we were able to win it. I think a lot of times he is overlooked and not appreciated for all the little things he does for this basketball team. Our players, coaches, and fans certainly understand what a valuable member of this team that he is. There are a lot of little things that people don't notice. He is a tremendous defender, rebounder, passer, and made some great plays down the stretch that really sealed the win.

OSSR: Okay, you are going to Kansas City like you wanted and you are in the same region with the softest number one seed in St. Joe's, but first it is Eastern Washington and then the winner of Memphis and South Carolina.

Sean: I think that we are pleased to go to Kansas City. We should have a strong fan base there, and I would think that the Kansas fans will pull for us as well, both being from the same conference. Eastern Washington is a team we will know more about in the next couple of days. We already have some films on them right now that we will have a chance to review tonight. We knew the second round game we would be playing somebody good. Memphis and South Carolina both have good teams and if we were to close that one out and win then more than likely we would see Pittsburgh on the East Coast. There is no easy pass to the Final Four. If you are going to make the Final Four you have to go beat good teams. Our guys are playing about as well as anybody in the country so we go and play like we did here in Dallas then we have a good chance to go deep into this thing.

OSSR: You mentioned the fans in Kansas City, how about here in Dallas the OSU fans took this thing over and they make take Kemper Arena over.

Sean: I think it proved again that we've got the best fans in America. We've got such a loyal following and I think night in and night out they prove that at Gallagher-Iba Arena that it is the greatest place to play in college basketball and this weekend they proved it again in Dallas. It was a great scene with all the OSU fans here in Dallas. We were so pleased that so many people were here and shared in this moment.
