DA'MAREAN PULLEN

Putnam City Running back 5-9, 160, 4.45

Considering he had never been a starter at the high school level, Pullen made quite a splash in his debut season in 2003.

"To be the leading rusher in Class 6A, you've got to have something going for you," said Putnam City coach Mark Little of Pullen.

Pullen's 1,741 yards was the top total in Oklahoma's largest class last season. Pullen's breakout season was something of a surprise seeing as how he was the Pirates' third-string tailback the season before.

"We were pretty successful running the ball the year before," said Little. "But we added a few things for Da'Marean and he took it from there. We have good quarterback play and good receivers which opens things up for Da'Marean, but he makes things happen. He has that vision where he knows what's coming before it takes shape."

Texas Christian and Southern Methodist have been high on Pullen for quite some time, but as his senior season approaches, higher-profile programs are calling.

"Michigan called about him the other day," said Little. "Word is starting to get around. I know his stock has started going up." Pullen, who scored 24 touchdowns last season, led the Pirates to the 6A semifinals and a 10-3 record.
